Black Friday – What is it?

Black Friday confuses us, another American annual event that we seem to have adopted, along with Halloween.   It originated in 1869 after a market crash that resulted in the New York stock market dropping by 20%, foreign trade coming to a standstill and a huge drop in the value of various commodities at the time.  This has now somehow morphed into a shopping frenzy with every retail business discounting their stock and marketing the event as ‘last chance’, ‘get in quick’ opportunity.  The ‘black’ reference is now linked to accounting terminology, ‘black’ being the colour of profitability over ‘red’ for financial losses and the Friday being the original day that the 1869 stock market crash occured.   Anyway the relevance to us here in Australia is ..well…zero, except that we are now being bombarded by it.  To make it worse, it doesnt seem to actually matter that it supposed to be held on the last Friday of November; now it seems that we can get Black Friday deals for a week or two longer and on any day of the week!?     Just to make sure we dont miss out, Black Friday is now followed up by Cyber Monday, I dont know yet if Cyber Monday goes for a couple of weeks as well, but hey … why not!?        The only part of all of this that you need to worry about, is that despite our confusion we have decided to jump on the bandwagon and offer Black – Cyber deals on every day of the week, until Christmas.  These deals apply to Polycraft Stock Boats and Honda Stock Engines.  The discounts are genuine, you wont buy cheaper and whilst they vary in scope depending on the product, you will walk away both happy and knowing that you snagged a bargain!   Give us a call to discuss your boating needs.
