Haines Hunter 565L, Suzuki 250 HP 4 Stroke (2011), New tandem aluminium trailer.   This is the classic ‘Old School Haines’ that has been totally stripped out, rebuilt and customised by an owner who knew what he wanted, and didn’t stop until he got it.  The overall spec is complete, with everything you would expect from a hard-core offshore fishing machine, but it is not overdone with things that you don’t need. No fuss, tough, simple, spacious and practical, but still a full-on head turner in classic Haines Hunter yellow that pays homage to the era.    MacQuarrie stainless has supplied all of the custom metal, with targa frame incorporating rocket launchers, shot gun and outrigger tubes, U-shaped seat frames for esky storage, custom gunnel rod holders, windscreen grab rail, bow rail, bait board with snapper racks and vertical cockpit rod racks.   Fiberglass work includes the spray screen, new transom, new floor, removal of side windows, bow hatch treatment and bow sprit.  Of course, the plumbing, fuel tank, wiring and basically every screw has been replaced. The hull and deck have been two packed in that magnificent retro yellow, and then finished off with new gunnel rubbers. The fishing gear inventory includes live bait tank, saltwater deck wash and cockpit work lights with electronics consisting of a Lowrance 12’ screen GPS/Finder and a Garmin VHF radio – like I said, simple.  The 250 Suzuki has 1080 hours on it with a good service history, (any test welcome) it runs a Garmin digital gauge alongside full analogue Suzuki gear.  The 21-degree deadrise hull is arguably the best riding hull built in Haines Hunter history, in this case complete with trim tabs and underwater lights for a bit of squid action. The Lone Star anchor winch set up keeps you exactly where you want to be.    There is EVA flooring, front and side clears under the bimini and new comfortable swivel helm seats.   The trailer is brand-new with mags, boat catch, sensa brakes, spare and stone guards.  This boat will give you instant cred at the club or the ramp, it’s the boat that you always wanted to build, but just haven’t had the time to make happen. Well  now someone has done all the hard work for you, and all you have to do is say – yes!
