Seller Note

Norseman 447 cruising cutter-sloop, 1987, ‘Windspirit’ centre cockpit (aft cabin) layout. Described by designer Robert Perry as ’his masterpiece’, the Norseman 447 has a massive reputation as a tough offshore cruiser that is also relatively quick, particularly when slightly off the breeze, making it a great boat for club and ocean racing. The comprehensive specifications are available in a separate inventory but the basics are as follows: Cummins 90 HP, Shaft drive with feathering and variable pitch propeller, bow thruster, davits & tender, full wardrobe of sails including 2 spinnakers, 2 mains, 2 headsails, stay sail and storm jib, 6 deck winches, 3 mast winches, running backstays and fractional baby stay; massive electronics package (listed below) plus HF radio, generator, big fuel and water capacity, complete galley with large fridge and freezer, two heads, 8 berths and very spacious with plenty of headroom throughout. This boat has had one owner since new and has had several upgrades over the years, with the most recent in 2015; including but not limited to reconditioning the motor, all new Garmin electronics including a 10 and 7 inch screen & 5 x 4 inch data screens, 24 HD radar, wind gear, log, depth autopilot , VHF with AIS, new fusion stereo system, 240 volt rewire including new battery charger, new hot water system, new batteries, led light upgrade, new eutectic refrigeration , two pack paint to topsides, new opening stainless port lights x 6, addition of solid vang, partial replacement of standing and running rig and more! More recent works include a new Profurl furler unit, further running and standing rig replacement, bow thruster reco and new anchor. The shoal draft of only 1.9m gives this boat great flexibility for extended cruising into shallower (Northern) waters and displacement of 13,000kg ensures a comfortable ride in even the toughest conditions. Overall this much loved boat is sound and reliable, filled with beautiful teak finishes and features, but does require attention in some areas to bring it back up to the standard it deserves, and has been priced accordingly. A veteran of several ocean voyages and regattas, the rich history of this boat and the legendary status it enjoys in Melbourne and along the East Coast cannot be overstated, while the extras and spares that come with it are too numerous to mention.
