Team Aussie Boat Sales Formula Vee race car has finished runner-up at the final round of the state championships held at Sandown raceway last month. AC racing driver Andre Currin was defending the VIC title win from 2025 with only a handful of championship points seperating the top four drivers. On the day Andre needed to win all three races to take the chocolates, but a mechanical issue in race 2 resulted in an 8th place, which meant he needed a win in the 3rd race and for his opponents to finish a bit further down the field to keep the championship title. Close racing followed, he got the win, but his rivals fought strongly and they managed to hold enough points to see Andre finish second for the season. We love the Formula Vee race weekends, both from a racing perspective, which is so close that just microseconds seperate the top drivers; but also because of the social aspect, catching up with the AC racing team, other sponsors, and team friends. The 2nd place did secure the club championship trophy for Andre, and he still has a couple of races to go in the National titles, along with the ‘Island Magic’ round at Phillip Island in November where he intends to have a crack at the coveted Mauri Fordham Trophy. Go for it Andre – we love being part of a winning team!
