Aussie Boat Sales has proudly sponsored Andre Curin (A.C Racing) in the action-packed, open wheel Formula Vee race series for two seasons now; and having just completed only his second year of competition, Andre Finished 4th in the Victorian State Championships. He is widely recognised by the Formula Vee community as ‘the driver to watch’ in coming years.
Formula Vee Racing provides the thrill of fiercely competitive motor racing. With minimal permitted modifications, there is greater emphasis on driver skill rather than budget. As a result, the class is the first proving ground in motor racing and has always been a stepping stone to higher levels of motorsport.
Formula Vee has been growing since 1960 and current Australian motorsport young guns, Cameron Waters, Jack Le Brocq and Sam Power along with legends like Larry Perkins, Jason Bargwanna, Colin Bond and John Bowe all began their careers in Formula Vee. On the international stage, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi and Keke Rosberg, all Formula 1 champions, raced Formula Vees in Europe or America at the beginning of their careers.
Who knows where Andre will end up in his racing career, early signs are promising, but in the meantime, we are happy to be involved and enjoy attending the races, following Andres rise in motorsport. ABS mechanic Max Langley has also joined the team to assist with his knowledge and explore his motor racing passion.
A feature of Formula Vee racing is the outstanding performance and handling, with the light weight, 1600CC V.W powered cars capable of over 200 kph along the straights. Drivers keep the cars ‘on the edge’ for the whole race in tight formations, often separated by only Millimetres. This exciting format means frequent lead changes and close finishes, with lap times only slightly below those of much more powerful cars.
